Changing States is a collection of black and white photograms created in a photographic darkroom. Within this work the objects and materials pictured have all gone through a transformation, changing from solid to liquid or liquid to gas. Carefully manipulated and assembled on the photographic paper, these unrecognisable and visceral forms are an expression of a changed internal state that is raw, fragile and under pressure.

 

The series is part of an ongoing project, Internal Pressure, that uses found objects, self-portraiture, and cameraless photography to create a visual language for unsteady states of mind.

This image was part of Surface Tension - an exhibition in 2019 at Farleigh and District Swimming Club in Wiltshire.
